Madras, My Dear

I was surprised to find my poem "Bionote" (which is also about Madras) featured in the historian S.Muthiah's column in The Hindu (August 29, 2011). The link:

  1. Thats a nice poem in a narrative mode. Could connect quite a bit..am sure the 10:30 AM lunch, 5 PM tiffin, the ambience of Mambalam (notwithstanding the fabled mosquitoes) next door to the ever-bust T Nagar, holidaying ideas confined to the once-serene Ooty, cappuccino/latte being nice-sounding Italian words - all these would be more than nostalgic to any Madras-ite ! :-)

As an aside, I have always wondered if the very scheme of poetry could at times stifle creativity. In the quest to impart alliteration, assonance et al, would a poet sometimes veer his thoughts away just a little bit, maybe unconsciously? That's why I have a tiny preference, somewhere in the corner of my mind, for prose :-) albeit a verse by Frost could potentially convey, what would take a good hand, several pages to do by the medium of prose..

Sorry for the rant! Nice to have a look at the poem..
